For the past three years, I’ve been shooting these twin sister’s Christmas photos. And without fail, it rains every year. But for the first time ever, we had BEAUTIFUL weather and a beautiful outdoor location to match it.

Nicole + Ben | Disneyland Engagement

In 2010, I had my engagement photos taken at Disneyland. So when Nicole came to me asking to take her photos there are well, it was an honor. We are both, let’s say, Disneyland enthusiasts and we complied a list of our favorite locations throughout the park. We chose a Wednesday in mid-May with the hopes of minimal crowds. And in the end, it seemed to work out just fine. With great weather, tolerable crowds, and a checklist full of locations, it was time to get to work.

Nicole and Ben ordered a pair of custom SF Giants tees to announce their wedding date, 06/21/14. i love their creativity!

Last year, Ben proposed to Nicole at the wishing well next to Sleeping Beauty Castle. So it was only fitting that we returned to that very spot for their engagement photos. We came back to the well later in the day for their “fancy wear.”

Nicole and Ben changed their outfits and we moved to the Court of Angels, arguably one of the most romantic spots in Disneyland. From there, we shot around New Orleans Square and aboard The Mark Twain.

After we disembarked, we found a spot on the side of the Rivers of America and waited for the Mark Twain to pass us. Perfect!

Nicole had the brilliant idea to place her engagement ring in the hands of Aurora and Phillip!

At this point, you would have an easy time believing we were the only ones in the park. In fact, we made a great effort to exclude tourists from our shoot. But when it was time the parade to begin, we embraced the crowds and put on a show of our own!

I was looking forward to getting some fun shots of Nicole and Ben on the Teacups, but they were closed.

We were shooting around the Disneyland Railroad station on Main Street when this Cast Member surprised us with an impromptu wedding! After the ‘ceremony,’ he opened his wallet to reveal a card proving he is 100% certified to perform weddings!

Our final stop was King Arthur Carousel. And after a day of walking around Disneyland in wedges, I think Nicole was more than happy to switch back to her Converse!

What an incredibly fun and magical day! Thank you Nicole and Ben for including me during this exciting time in your lives!

Baby Corson | San Jose Newborn Photographer

Meet Corson!

I had the chance to visit with Corson twice in this past week. Our first shoot was when he was 5-days-old. We got some great family shots and I took some time to explore his nursery. He wasn’t too thrilled with me taking his individual portraits, so we decided it would be best for me to come back the next week when he would be 11-days-old. He was more forgiving this time and decided it was okay to let me take over his nursery with blankets, props, and camera gear. He powered through our second shoot and didn’t even ask for a feeding break. It’s always an honor to be asked to take newborn photos. I loved being there for some of the tiniest moments of his life.

Superbowl

Unlike everyone else right now, I’m not watching the Super Bowl. I’m too busy counting down until baseball season. I did, however, watch the Puppy Bowl this morning for my 9th straight year!

While I may not be a football fan of any kind, I do have some great friends who bleed red and gold. And here’s a photo in honor of the 49ers making it to Aidan’s first ever Super Bowl. Congrats!

Lincoln High School | Dance | LHS Convertibles

As many of you know, I recently had surgery to remove my gallbladder. It’s hard to believe that this recital was less than 18 hours before my emergency surgery. I was invited to see my friend and her students perform at Lincoln High School’s latest dance performance. I had a great time, ate one too many cookies, and took a ton of photos. I worked a few edits when I got home and went to bed. At 4AM I woke up with extreme stomach and back pain. 3 hours later I was in urgent care and 4 hours after that, I was in the Emergency Room preparing for surgery.
To make a long story short, I’m 100% back to normal and am finally getting a chance to go through the rest of the dance images. I love how you can feel some of the emotions through these images. That’s only a reflection of the talented dancers.

Christmas Portraits

Christmas is approaching fast and that means it’s time for Christmas card photos!
These sisters came to me last year for photos and it was a blast getting to work with them again.
Both of our schedules were pretty busy around this time, and as it just so happens, the day we chose was when a storm was rolling through. With a little improvisation, I did some experimenting with Christmas lights and a white backdrop. We got some great shots with our impromptu natural light studio in their garage.

Disney’s California Adventure

We finally got our Oswald ears! They’ve been out of stock for months (or at least every time we visit).
Can you tell we were happy?

My black and white photography class was assigned to do some street photography.
So, I went to a few of my favorite streets in Anaheim.
Buena Vista Street, the Mad T Party, and Downtown Disneyland seemed to provide
an interestingly feel that translated well into black and white.

Newborn Session with Baby Aidan

Nicole | Bay Area Photography

After a tiring weekend shooting in Napa (stay tuned), I had just enough time to drive home and squeeze in one shoot before the sun went down on Sunday.

With a beautiful location, colors, and a stunning model, how could I go wrong?! We were lucky enough to have some beautiful fall colors. It’s certainly the time of year for it. I asked Nicole to bring two outfits and two pairs of shoes: I think she brought four of each! We settled on two styles and I say she nailed each look perfectly!
